I suspect this is exaggerated for maximum impact, although it has a modicum of truth in that Pelligrini was approached when Bilic was going to get the tin tack and said yes in principle provided at the end of the season, as that's when he could get out of his China contract assuming we stayed up.

They kept in touch and made a formal agreement once we were mathematically safe, then he flew over and signed when he was free of his China contract, all sounds perfectly feasible to me.

Bring back Frank Nouble, I say.

Complete and utter fucking drivel.

Honestly, if you're going to make up shit then at least make it sound remotely plausible.

Re: Pelligrini agreed to join 7 months ago and watched our games
In a round about way there is maybe some truth to this, maybe he got an approach when Bilic got sacked? For whatever reason he didn’t come, but it was always on the table that Moyes was only on an end of season contract, being a football manager he will watch loads of games and a good few PL games and some would have featured us im sure, particularly had we made an approach.

IMO, Moyes was in the frame until the Burnley game, but after that fiasco and then the shit served up against Stoke, Arsenal and Man City he was never going to stay, by the time he had us playing well at Leicester and then Everton it was too late.

Maybe Pelegrini didn’t watch many live games but as soon as we came in for him (maybe for the second time), I bet the DVD player was running hot on all our games and a good look at just who we had playing for us.

Been planned for 25 years - he only started watching us over the last seven months because he knew that the plan was coming to fruition.

The Fonseca meeting could have been a back scratching favour for Mendes. One certainty is Fonseca got a new improved deal from Shaktar.

*I CAN believe this

I can't believe this. There were strong rumours after Bilic was sacked that there was a manager who wanted to join us, but wanted to wait until the end of the season.

It would certainly explain their lack of investment in January.

Well, happily this means no more Kouyate, surely.

SURELY?

Sounds like a masterplan to attempt to explain away why no money was spent on transfers during the winter transfer window

Re: Pelligrini agreed to join 7 months ago and watched our games
Don't buy it myself. There was no need to get Fonseca over as a "smokescreen" - Benitez speculation did enough of that.

I don't doubt that they tapped him up beforehand though.

Clearly all linked to the Carrick deal...

well a contract ain't a contract until it's signed so I guess Fonseca (the photo are a bit dodgy) and Bebeitez could have been backups.

Yes, the 'Fonseca deal'

Don’t worry chaps, it’s all in the master plan that Fonseca will take over in three years to retain the CL title.

But Fonesca coming to Sullivan's house with Jorges Mendes? I'm guessing they didn't just pop round for a cuppa, the three old mates....

What a pointless article. As if Fonseca was flown over for talks just to create a smokescreen! An absolute crock of shit.
